Welcome to the forum, Dave! It’s a super good plan to start scouting now. For squirrels, particularly walking around dusk / dawn helps get a sense of the population. For sure circle back if you have questions – site selection and hunting technique can be one of the hardest things to shift focus and “think like a hawk” when you’re first out there. Lots of good hawkers here to get you rolling and help ID good sites, so don’t be shy about asking questions either!
