| Saturday September 6th (rain date Sep 13th) 4 Willow Point Road IthacaNY 1485011 am - 4 pm ** RSVP - Call for Attendance ** It’s time to re-tie nooses on the BC and get your trapping kit together.September/October is prime time for trapping your next hunting partner in NY State. We’re going to get a few falconers together and share tips/tricks and experiences of safely trapping passage raptors for the purpose of falconry. This will be an informal workshop going over different trapping techniques and essential equipment. From the popular bal-chatri (BC) to stationary traps and bownet setups we’ll cover the fundamentals and then some.Like many things in falconry, preparation and planning makes for success. A birdon/in the trap is only one part of the process. It’s also not the time to becalling your sponsor and asking “what do I do now?” We’re looking forward to having several seasoned falconers at this workshop to share knowledge and experience of various techniques appropriate to different passage raptors. Note: this will be an outdoor event and will not include PowerPoint presentations! Family members are invited.Socialized dogs are also welcome however there may be birds perched out and ifso, dogs must be leashed at all times. This workshop will be held at Steve Lowes’ home on shores of Cayuga Lake near Ithaca, NY. Plenty of parking is available but feel free to bring your lawn chair. Sandwiches and water will be provided and parties are asked to bring a dish to pass and your favorite beverage. All we need is an idea of number of attendees. Please let us know (or confirm) if you are attending by responding to info@nysfa.org. Alternatively PM Steve directly via the NYSFA Facebook site where this message will also be posted. |
